At Södra Ängby School, just west of Stockholm, Sweden, both students and staff are now enjoying a much more pleasant lunch experience. Previously, noise levels in the cafeteria were high, creating a stressful atmosphere for everyone who spent time there. But after a collaboration with Zilenzio, lunch has become something else entirely: calmer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.

The school worked with its furniture supplier, Orderinvest, who recommended acoustic solutions from Zilenzio. Inspired by Nya Elementar — another school that had made a similar improvement — Södra Ängby invited Zilenzio to help address the acoustic challenges. Zilenzio developed a tailored proposal based on detailed sound calculations, supported by 3D visualizations of the cafeteria to give confidence in the decision-making process.
“The environment in the cafeteria has generally improved. Both staff and students feel the difference. The sound is absorbed, but the overall atmosphere is also more subdued. We’re also very happy with the aesthetics and the feeling of the clouds in the ceiling. It’s simply a more pleasant space to be in,” says Pernilla Fraser, Administrative Manager at Södra Ängby School.
